We are often told not to write in our books. But for historians, written-in, well-loved books are precious resources that give us a glimpse into how people read and what they valued. Allie Alvis, curator of special collections, will illuminate how worn, marked-up, repaired books communicate through the centuries, with many examples drawn from Henry Algernon and Henry Francis du Pont’s personal books.
