How To Set The Bible Free

The Bible is a powerful icon in our culture. And yet, it is commonly called the most purchased and least read book in the English Language. The average household in the United States owns nine copies. It has been the source of incredible hope as well as horrific oppression- the result of which is entirely dependent upon how we choose to read it.

For many, the way that they have been taught to interact with the Bible isn’t working for them, but that doesn’t that mean we need to throw it out. It simply means we need to learn to hold it differently.

What it is and the ways that people have held it, read it, and interpreted it over the last 2000 years has changed immensely. The scripture Jesus and his first followers had and how they read them is ions from where we are today.

In this 4-week workshop, we will explore: what the Bible is, ways it has been grossly misused and misunderstood, and a path to holding and engaging it in ways that breathes life, liberation, and hope.

This series of events will be held every Thursday night in October at Pitfire Pizza in Costa Mesa, CA from 7-9pm. Come early to grab dinner, stay late to hang at the Pie Society Speak Easy, or order dinner and drinks during the event.
