How to Make Weaving Work For You

People often think about how they can adapt their bodies to make their art. We want to think about how the art-making process can be adjusted to best suit you! If you have pain, a disability, or just find weaving to be difficult, we will give you all the tips and tricks for finding a method of weaving that works for you. The workshop will be held outside in Carl Schurz Park. During our time together we will talk about weaving as an accessible art form, as well as demosntrate ways in which people can manage their pain and adjust the weaving experience to make it as soothing and easy as possible for each unique body. Professional floor and tabletop looms will be provided, as well as DIY cardboard, paper plates and wire mesh looms. It is the goal of this workshop to encourage artists and other attendees to think about how the art world can be made more accessible for themselves and everyone around them, and how we can incorporate these practices into the art world going forward.

Registration is encouraged, but not required. Walk-ins will be welcomed!

This workshop is free, but there is a suggested donation of $10.

We will be located at the flagpole lawn, south of Gracie Mansion. There will be a sign that says Intertwine Arts that will point you in the correct direction.
