About this Event
During the exhibition How to make a home, a lineup of extraordinary artists, makers and designers are sharing insights into their materials and methods through the ‘How to make a…’ workshop series. Back by popular demand is Courtney Petley with How to make a... wooden spoon.
Courtney will teach her technique for carving a spoon using reclaimed native NZ timber. You’ll learn about the properties of wood to help you carve effectively and how to safely use a hook knife and blade to render a spoon. Your spoon will then be finished with sandpaper and oiled with a New Zealand made beeswax before you take it home with you at the end of the session.
All materials and tools will be provided, as well as a light lunch and refreshments. This workshop is not suitable for children.
Limited tickets for this full-day workshop are $140. Spaces are limited and will sell out – be quick!
