How to get the most out of your National Archives - Great Lakes Region Visit
NARA's Great Lakes Regional Archives in Chicago has a wealth of genealogical information for family history researchers of all levels. Resources, both on-site and online, can provide new avenues to further your family tree. On-site Record Collections include hundreds of 20th century city directories not found online, naturalizations, court papers, maritime records and Native American genealogical resources. The National Archives online offer millions of digitized records including photographs, maps, letters and much more. Tina will cover in detail what the National Archives has to offer the family historian.
Tina Beaird is the owner of Tamarack Genealogy and is the Genealogy Librarian at the Plainfield Public Library. She lectures extensively on military research, Scottish records, and archival preservation. She is 1st vice president of the Illinois State Genealogical Society and board director for the Oswegoland Heritage Association. Occasionally, Tina finds time to research her own family tree, which she has been pursuing for over 30 years.
