This will be interesting for everyone involved in specs: Architects, Engineers, Facilities Managers, Interior Designers, and, of course, Manufacturer's Reps. What you will learn:

• About the goals of various members of the project team and the role of each in the decision-making process. Participants will understand how owners and design professionals arrive at the essential performance and design characteristics that drive the selection of materials.
• What is the typical timeline for product selection decision process, from research to selection to procurement.
• More about the role the project specifications in the controlling the procurement of building materials. This includes both the administrative processes and the language of technical sections which indicate whether the product is proprietary, the basis of design, limited to a short list or completely open.
• How different team members view the benefits and limitations of proposed substitutions. Building product manufacturers will learn how and when to propose substitutions. Design professionals and Owners will learn how to evaluate proposed substitutions.
• The value of building a long-term relationship based on mutual understanding of the expertise, needs and role of each.
