About this Event

Debut novelist Rebecca Philipson joins us to discuss her new book How To Get Away With M**der.

Published by Penguin, it is a crime story with a difference, inspired by her true crime blog launched during the pandemic and her fascination in the celebrity status often afforded to serial killers.

Queen of Crime Val McDermid (Liverpool Literary Festival Alumna) has said of the book, “How To Get Away With M**der turns the serial killer novel on its head”.

Rebecca started her own business at 21, becoming North East Young Entrepreneur of the Year. She sold the business in 2020 to devote herself to her writing career and in 2024 won a scholarship to the University where she is currently reading for a PhD in Creative Writing.

Rebecca will be in conversation with Dr Melissa Raines from the Department of English.
