Cinema, art, and ecology in apocalyptic times.
About this Event

Timothy Morton once quipped that living in our time is...

like being in the expanding blast radius of a slow-motion nuclear bomb.

How are artists responding to this strange moment when the world feels like it's constantly ending?

For this event, we've invited curator Laura Copelin and filmmaker David Fenster to share their work and unique perspective on this question, with special video appearances by Chilean artist/poet Cecilia Vicuna and author/ecological systems designer Nance Klehm, who each made videos specifically for this event. Also, artist and medicine maker, Saewon Oh, has concocted a custom flower essence for this special evening. A sensorial feast that you won't want to miss!

Laura Copelin is the Curator and Deputy Director of Moca Tucson and was previously the Director and Curator at Ballroom Marfa, where among other things, she curated the Hyperobjects exhibition with philosopher ecologist Timothy Morton.

David Fenster is a prolific filmmaker whose work has shown everywhere from the Sundance Film Festival to the Museum of Modern Art. Fenster currently works at Arizona Public Media, the NPR/ PBS station in Tucson, Arizona.

Copelin and Fenster are also life partners (according to one psychic, brothers in a past life) and their practices inform one another. They're also dear friends of ours and we're honored to have them in our midst from Tucson to share their work!
