So you want to be a Community Organizer? We're here to help you plan, execute, and seed [Fund] your project.
Join Prof. Andrea Reyes for a 4 part series where together we will:
- Identify the problem you are trying to solve
- Find the people you will serve
- Build support within the community
- Create calls to action to support your cause
After each session participants will complete a survey/form which will culminate in a mini business plan. Completion of all 4 surveys, particiants will be given double their investment back. Pay $100 to participate and receive $200 at the end to start your project.

We are also offering this program free to the community. Those not paying the initial $100 investment will not be eligable for seed funding. The $100 investment will be collected after the first session.
Sessions:
Every other Monday starting Feb. 10th 3-6pm. Feb. 24th, Mar. 10th, and Mar. 24th. Please bring a laptop and notebook to make the most of this workshop.
About the Instructor:
Andrea Reyes is a fair trade advocate, educator, and sustainable fashion mentor. She is the Executive Director of the NYC Fair Trade Coalition, which offers a unique educational experience for ethically-aligned businesses, students of sustainability, and advocates by creating space to incubate and activate local communities. She runs the Sustainable Fashion Community Center, located in East Harlem, which welcomes the public to swap, pop, and drop-in to check out their clothing swap and fair trade gift shop. She is also the founder of A. Bernadette, a sustainable fashion mentorship firm which aims to educate and incubate businesses to include more sustainable practices into their business activities. She is an educator and author having taught at Pace University, Baruch College, FIT, LIM College and Kent State. She is a published author through Bloomsbury Publishing, titled "Apparel Costing." Lastly, she is a doctoral candidate at Pace University.

El Barrio’s Artspace PS109 is a vibrant cultural hub located in the heart of East Harlem. With 89 units of affordable housing for artists and 10,000 square feet of space dedicated to nonprofit arts organizations—including HiArts, La Casa de Herencia, Shakespeare Forum, and the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance—it serves as a cornerstone for artistic innovation and community engagement. Year-round, its exhibition and multi-purpose spaces showcase work from emerging and established artists, fostering cultural enrichment and social connections for the broader community.
