About this Event

DATES: 27th and 28th July at 7:45pm & 1st August at 2pm

The problem: Gwen and Charlie are strapped for cash. Their wedding is coming up and they have no way to pay for the honeymoon of their dreams.

The solution: Break into Aunt Robyn’s house and steal the mysterious treasure that she is always bragging about but no one has ever seen.

This is how Charlie and Gwen find themselves outside Aunt Robyn’s house holding a rock, wondering if they should throw it through her window and really hoping that she is definitely on holiday.

Reviews from our Edinburgh Fringe run 2025:

"Quite clever actually" - Sinners review ****

"“In only 45 minutes, How Not to Fund a Honeymoon delivers on just about everything you could want or expect from the crime-comedy caper genre. Greenwood’s script is funny, but thanks to the non-linear structure, the looming threat of upcoming violence hangs over the entire narrative. The play effectively strikes a precarious balance between humour and bleakness.” - North West End UK ****

"“Stephanie Greenwood’s script is smart, brisk, and absurdly compelling. The performances bring three distinct, well drawn characters to life with charm and energy. For a short play, it delivers excellent drama, strong laughs, tight pacing, and satisfying character arcs.” - Ed Fest Reviews ****

“Who doesn’t love a bit of true crime? How Not to Fund a Honeymoon is a delightfully farcical yet loveable take on a classic break-in story. The play whips along at breakneck speed, consistently punctuated with some fabulous punchlines.” - Binge Fringe

“Absurd, magnetic, and gloriously unhinged, How Not To Fund A Honeymoon is the kind of dark comedy that sweeps you up and refuses to let go." - London Theatre Doc

“The whole thing is a silly, madcap comedy of manners-come-crime caper, with some funny lines which poke away at the eccentricities and traditions of middle-class Middle England and an amusingly unrealistic police questioning of Robyn which feels straight out of Monty Python.” - The Scotsman

“The performances are amazing; we have three actors in total, and each one of them is absolutely fabulous. The parts of the script that are funny really work, and the lines are delivered with joy and humour. Stephanie Greenwood is particularly strong as the insane and overly posh Aunt Robyn. Claire Feuille and Ausette Anderies equally shine as the would-be honeymooners.” - Starburst Magazine
