How is Griffintown transforming? A neighborhood walk to exchange ideas
About this Event
How is Griffintown changing?
Come walk with your neighbours to explore how infrastructure and urban investment are transforming the neighbourhood: the arrival of the REM and new transit connections, redesigned streets, new parks and public spaces, and upcoming projects.
We’ll look at what has already been built, but also at what is being planned, promised and anticipated, and how these changes are already shaping the way we move through the neighbourhood, experience it and imagine it.
This walk doesn’t tell a fixed story of Griffintown. It gives a voice to the people who live here. Together, we’ll observe the changes and discuss how they are experienced in everyday life. What has changed? What works, and what doesn’t? What are you noticing, expecting or concerned about? Whether you’ve lived in Griffintown for years or have only recently moved here, your perspective is part of the conversation.
Who is organizing this walk?
This walk is a citizen initiative with MR-63, with two goals: creating connections between people in their neighbourhood and better understanding how we experience where we live. It will be led by Tan Shan Li and designed together with Marylin Chahine, PhD candidate at Concordia University, in collaboration with CRIEM.
How will the walk unfold?
We’ll meet at Parc Mary Griffin at 3 PM (across from the New City Gas), currently occupied by the Piazza di Mano.
A walk of about 1 to 1.5 hours is planned through the neighbourhood, looping back to Parc Mary Griffin.
This walk will be held in English. The French version will take place at the same time on Saturday, October 24 (see event).
Please wear comfortable shoes suited to an urban walk, as well as appropriate clothing in case of rain.
If the walk has to be cancelled, you will be notified 24 hours in advance.
If you need anything, you can write to us at: [email protected]
