About this Event

If you ask them to pour some sugar on you - they will!

Aimee Blake and William Johner of Sugar Sugar™ will share the story of how they developed their sugaring hair removal business concept in 2012, grew to two locations in the Phoenix area with 2 more in the works and franchised the company. Sugar Sugar™ is a spa that specializes in organic sugaring hair removal. They also offer organic airbrush tanning, facials and skincare and exclusively sell Skin From Scratch™ products.

The partners in business - and marriage - will reflect on their journey to franchise development, working together, mindset and even share some tips from the lessons they learned along the way.

Join America’s Future-Southwest on Tuesday, November 30th for happy hour to dive into the story of Sugar Sugar™!

An engaging Question & Answer portion of the talk will conclude the night’s planned activities. Tickets are $5 (+ a small Eventbrite fee) for purchase ahead of time via Eventbrite. The event includes a delicious beer crafted by Greenwood Brewing served in their outdoor beer garden. No need for business attire - come as you are!

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Aimee Blake, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of

Aimee Blake co-founded Sugar Sugar™ with her partner, William Johner, in 2012. After visiting Arizona from Seattle and realizing there were no sugaring businesses, Aimee saw the opportunity to provide exceptional service with quality, organic products. She was inspired by her mom, "a modern super woman, entrepreneur and rebel" to start her business shortly after she passed from cancer in 2011. As a Latina founder, Sugar Sugar™ is Aimee's way of keeping her mother's spirit alive, as she was encouraged to be brave and follow her instincts. Prior to her business, she worked in STEM as a laboratory technician at The Polyclinic in Seattle.

William Johner, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of

William Johner co-founded Sugar Sugar™ with his partner, Aimee Blake, in 2012. After personally experiencing skin cancer, William became interested in what he was putting on his body. In 2016, William founded the organic skincare company, Skin From Scratch™, sold exclusively at Sugar Sugar™. William previously owned a content marketing agency, Yum Yum Media, and worked in print and digital media for Lee Enterprises and other organizations.
