Since its formation in the fall of 2021, members of the Academic Freedom Committee have dedicated their time to exploring ways to reaffirm the university’s commitment to unfettered intellectual inquiry, the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge, and the value of free speech. To that end, the committee is planning a series of events and activities to address contemporary sociocultural and First Amendment topics at the U.
Presenter:
Christopher Finan - Fellow, National Endowment for Democracy
Mr. Finan is the executive director of the National Coalition Against Censorship. He has been a free speech activist for over 40 years. A former newspaper reporter, he received a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University. He is the author of the award-winning history, From the Palmer Raids to the Patriot Act: A History of the Fight for Free Speech in America.
Pizza will be distributed to attendees at the beginning of the event. Please plan to arrive at the venue promptly.
