Most people are familiar with the innumerable benefits of living trees – but even after their death, trees provide vital habitat, shelter, and food for wildlife. Although clearing away dead branches and trees is standard property management practice, leaving them in place can provide essential resources for wildlife. Join us as we learn how dead and dying trees still teem with life, from tiny termites to fantastic flying squirrels and everything in between!
This program is part of our Fall Gardening Saturday Series and takes place hybrid (in-person and simulcast online) Saturday, October 9.
About the Instructor: Samantha Nestory is a naturalist and horticulturist at Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden in Villanova, PA. She holds ecology and entomology degrees from the University of Delaware and is passionate about ecological gardening, native plants, and insect conservation.
