AI systems have been remembering more than the current conversation for a long time. They use saved facts, user profiles, retrieval systems, memory banks, files, and other forms of persistent state to carry information across conversations and tasks.
This talk surveys how memory works across systems such as ChatGPT, Claude, OpenClaw, and Hermes. We’ll look at what agents store, how they retrieve it, how memories change over time, and why forgetting is an essential part of the design. Along the way, we’ll compare the tradeoffs between continuity, accuracy, cost, privacy, and user control.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
