Houston History Launch: Harrisburg & Milby High Schools

We will open with a reception at 5:30 p.m. featuring food prepared by the Milby Culinary Program.

This will be followed by a panel discussion at 6:00 p.m. with Principal Ruth Peña and several Milby alumni discussing the school’s 100-year history.
The University of Houston Center for Public History celebrates the launch of its newest issue of Houston History magazine!

It marks the 2026 bicentennial of Harrisburg and the centennial of Charles H. Milby High School – the Bison-tennial! The articles are based on interviews with Milby alumni and research using yearbooks and other historic materials collected by the Milby Library and the Milby COED Cadettes.
