Rennie Foster has been a well-respected figure in the Canadian music and art community for three decades. He influenced many as an early pioneer of the Hip-Hop / B-Boy movement, a member of the pre-Swollen Members rap group Sound Advice which introduced Juno Award winning artist Moka Only, and then later the House Music and Techno / Rave scene, participating in the first events in Western Canada during the birth of these now widely known urban subcultures. He is also very well known within the niche of graffiti art for his early work, having been archived in several published book such Digital Orgasm : The History of Canadian Graffiti Art and Rave Evolution by author Jimmy Fritz.
Rennie relocated to Tokyo Japan in 2004 and became an important part of the Japanese club scene, playing all over Japan in venues such as Womb, ageHa, and Yellow, maintaining DJ residencies in Tokyo and Kyoto at the legendary Metro club and at the bi-yearly Nagisa Music Festival in Tokyo and Osaka. Rennie was consistently ranked in the top 50 DJs in Japan by LOUD Magazine until re-locating back to Canada in 2011. Rennie is currently a resident DJ at Western Canada’s top after-hours club, Gorg-O-Mish in Vancouver, BC, regularly playing as a guest at underground venues across Canada, Detroit, New York, Paris and has played festivals such as Shambhala, Bass Coast, Rifflandia, Tall Tree, Soundwave, among many others.

Rennie Foster has released music with Jack White’s Third Man Label, classic dance music labels including Derrick May's Transmat, Laurent Garnier's F-Communications, Ben Sims' Ingoma label, Synewave, Teknotika, Subject Detroit, Thoughtless Music, Manual, Monoid, and is widely recognized for his underground anthem Devil's Water on Rebirth Records. Rennie has remixed, or been remixed by, some of the top names in dance music such as Juan Atkins, James Zabiela, Rick Wade, Uner, Edu Imbernon, Altern 8, and Swayzak. He has released many singles, EPs, and four full length studio albums. In 2017 Rennie collaborated with celebrated Detroit painter Abdul "HAQQ" for the cover of his LP Game of 100 Ghosts, his debut album The War of Art release ten years earlier featured artwork by MoMA resident Alexander Gelman, or GLMN. He runs a signature record label RF releasing artists such as Amir Alexander, Hiroshi Watanabe, Satoshi Fumi, and continues to produce tough urban house music and stylish techno for cutting edge dance music imprints including Goldmin Music and Skylax Records in Paris and the Detroit based Soiree Records.

CHRISTOPH MAITLAND :: SHORT FUSE RECORDINGS / HOUSEWORX

Christoph Maitland is an award winning DJ, music producer and showrunner out of Victoria, Canada for the last 25 years. Not one to limit himself by genre, his productions explore House, Melodic, Tech and Electronic. As a producer he has heard his work played on BBC Radio 1 by Annie Nightingale, be featured as the main demo song for FL Studio 9, and charted in the Beatport top 100 of multiple genres. His debut album “There's A Light” was released in Spring 2024 and features remixes from 15 Western Canadian producers. He has been remixed by artists such as Toronto Is Broken, Myagi, Jon Delerious, Duane Barry, Joel West, DJ Soo, Michael Beggs, Dark Arps and many more. As a DJ he first gained popularity in the early 2000s through his ability to move dance floors with an arsenal of seamless mixing and DJ tricks. After winning a DJ competition he went on to become club resident at Hush, a Canadian underground institution from 2002 - 2014 where he shared stages with the biggest names in electronic music like Kaskade, Mark Farina, Steve Angello, Above & Beyond, Dylan Rhymes and Meat Katie, to name a few. He now holds residency at his own night Houseworx, at Lucky Bar, Victoria.

Host of Victronic TV, “Agent MC” is also a distinguished house Dj, who recently rebranded under the name “FORMIDABLE THROWDOWN”. With his house music roots being from both the UK & the warehouse grooves of inner city Detroit, FORMIDABLE THROWDOWN is returning to Lucky Bar after playing one of our first ever shows in this space back in 2016. Expect a blend of soulfully stomping tech-house that puts the pump and spice into your funkin’ pumpkin.
