House of BONZ presents - The Greater Lafayette Talent Show at Duncan Hall

The Greater Lafayette Talent Show on Saturday, August 20 will reveal the top 3 talents from a series of OPEN AUDITIONS held August 8, 9, 10 from 6 - 8p at Duncan Hall | 619 Ferry Street in downtown Lafayette. Top 10 talents will advance to the (BIG) Show on 8/20.

1st place wins $500 | 2nd place $250 | 3rd place $100. Tickets also available at the door the night of the show. Admission is $20 per person, includes a BBQ dinner featuring Lafayette's own internationally award winning BONZ Barb BQ sauce.

Rules and Regulations

*Open auditions are Aug 8th, 9th, and 10th. 6-8pm

*Cost to audition is $20.00 per person, $50.00 for groups of 3 or more.

*Each contestant will receive a complimentary bottle of the award winning BONZ Barb-BQ sauce.

* The Talent Show competition will be held at 7pm, Aug 20th on the Thomas Duncan Hall Stage.

1.The show is open to any age.

2. Talents may include (but not limited to) singing, dancing, instrumental music, skits, magic, comedy, martial arts, juggling, NO LIP SYNCHING.

3. Everyone must return a completed and signed Talent Show Participation Form.

4. Anyone who is a part of a group act should submit their Participation Forms together.

5. Recommended length is 3 minutes; acts must be no more than 5 minutes.

6. Maximum number of participants in an act is 6.

7. Decisions of the judges are final and will not be open to discussion. Further, the Talent Show Committee reserves the right for the final decision on any matters not covered in the rules.

8. No profanity or insensitive subject matter will be permitted.

9. Costumes must be appropriate for all age groups. This is a community event.

10. Contestant must create all sound live on stage; however, vocalist may use a CD for accompaniment, but it MAY NOT HAVE VOCALS ON IT! Tracks containing voices WILL NOT be allowed to be used. Any recorded accompanying music must be provided to the Talent Show committee at the time of auditions.

11. Contestants are responsible for bringing and setting up their own equipment. The participant’s responsibility is to get the accompanying music back after the show. The Event Committee members are not responsible if equipment doesn’t work during the performance.

12. Acts containing fire, smoke, weapons, or smoke effects will not be allowed to perform.

13. Acts with any members under 18 must have a written consent from parents for each member.

14. Top 10 acts will advance to the Talent Show on August 20th. Contestants must arrive at least 45 minutes prior to doors open to the public.

15. Video and still images will be used in social media marketing promotions. The Talent Show Committee has the right to use names and or photos for any further publicity purposes.

16. Talent Show Committee is not responsible for theft/damage or injury of any kind, to persons or instruments, props, clothing etc. during, before or after the performance.

Judging Criteria

*Talent Mastery - How long is the talent? How well prepared, organized?

*Originality/ Creativity - innovative, distinctive from others, props used well, etc.

*Delivery - Showmanship, attitude, entertainment value, confidence, etc.

*Time Limit - must be less than 5 minutes or points will be deducted.

Awards

1st place winner = $500.00, 2nd place winner = $250.00, 3rd place winner = $100.00.
