Te Motu Kairangi, with the support of Houghton Valley Community Hall, warmly invites you to:Monthly Flax Weaving WΔnanga
Experience the joy of learning, sharing, and reconnecting with the art of weaving.
Whether youβre a first-time weaver or returning to refresh your skills, all are welcome. Weβll cover basic weaving techniques and tikanga (customs) and provide a supportive, creative space to connect with MΔori arts and crafts alongside others.
π Session Times
β’ Beginners: 11:00am β 1:00pm
β’ Returners: 1:00pm β 4:30pm (pack down starts at 4:00pm)
π What to Bring
β’ New weavers: 5β10 rau (blades) of harakeke, sharp scissors,
β’ an old towel (if you have one)
β’ Bring a bag, as you must take away leftover harakeke
β’ Returning weavers: 30β40 rau of harakeke and your weaving tools
β’ Some tools are available to borrow
β’ Shared kai (snacks) welcome but not required
β’ Please take any leftover harakeke home with you
