About the Building:
Hotel Verdant, located at 500 Main Street in Racine, is one of the region’s most sustainability-focused hospitality projects. The building incorporates 20 geothermal wells to heat and cool the lower and ground floors and rooftop bar, along with an extensive green roof that helps divert rainwater from the sewer system, reduce the building’s heat island effect, and support solar panel installations. Additional sustainable features include a 56.6-kilowatt photovoltaic system, wind turbines, and smart building technology such as occupancy and thermal sensors designed to optimize energy use throughout the hotel.
