BIO

EUGENIE JONES is credited with creating jazz that appeals to a broader audience. The American vocalist combines emotional storytelling with universal themes that reflect shared human experiences, transcending geographic and cultural boundaries. Her diverse style and engaging performances invite audiences to experience jazz in a surprisingly intimate way.

Since emerging on the jazz scene in 2013, the award-winning Seattle-based vocalist, composer, producer, and legacy activist has become one of the most evocative and evolving artists of our time. NEA Jazz Master and bassist Reggie Workman describes Jones as "an extraordinary singer, songwriter, and a source of light we're fortunate to experience." New York music critic, Thomas Staudter, praised Jones for her "tremendous talent, tireless energy, and buoyant spirit," while Paris Move Magazine describes Jones as "one of the most beautiful voices in the United States."

Jones is a two-time Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year and the first vocalist to win the Earshot Jazz Album of the Year. Her sixth and current album, **EUGENIE**, charted on the Jazz Week Top 50 for 17 weeks, peaking worldwide at #4.

Beyond being acknowledged as an emotive and engaging songwriter and vocalist, she is also the recipient of the International Jazz Association's prestigious Jazz Hero Award for her work in successfully presenting the Annual Jackson St. Jazz Walk. This event intertwines live jazz with community service.

With the desire to preserve the legacy of now-gentrified, musically historic communities, Eugenie Jones has served as Executive Producer of Seattle's Jackson Street Jazz Walk for eight years, increasing impact by using the event to raise funds for nonprofits that serve the needs of disadvantaged Seattle residents.

In addition to being a singer/songwriter/recording-performing artist, Jones is actively engaged in her community. She serves as the founding Board President of the Music Discover Center, a nonprofit that provides disadvantaged youth access to music instruction. For the last four years, she has also served as the Executive Producer of the Jackson Street Jazz Walk. This annual block-party community event commemorates Seattle’s historic African American music history and artists, such as Quincy Jones and Ray Charles, while raising funds for local nonprofits that feed the hungry and serve the needs of seniors. With legendary Crusaders drummer Stix Hooper, Jones served as Executive Co-Executive Producer of the Celebrating Ernestine Anderson Tribute Series, a November 2021 event that honored the life and legacy of Seattle-based international jazz/blues icon Ernestine Anderson (1928-2016). Fulfilling a commitment to couple community service with her music, Jones designed the series to entertain, educate youth, and raise funds for one of Ernestine’s favorite charities, the Rotary Boys and Girls Club of Seattle.
