----- The Artists Tonight -----
::: Youjin Sung (Gayageum : Korean Zither)
Youjin Sung is a gayageum (Korean traditional instrument) player who constantly tries experimental work through collaborations with artists from various fields, both traditional and modern.
As a performer, she believes that improvisational music contains the most natural and active aspects of herself, and she usually thinks it is important to spend time thinking about how much she can express her identity.
::: Bo-Sung Kim (Korean Percussion)
Born in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up in Berlin.
As a child, she discovered her passion for Korean percussion and, after finishing school, went to Korea to study Korean Traditional Performing Arts at the Korean National University of Arts in Seoul, specialising in percussion, mask dance and shamanic ritual music.
Bo-Sung Kim plays in various formations, such as Song of Mu and the Ensemble Ay, two bands which explore new worlds of sound through free improvisation; the Ensemble GaMuAk, which performs traditional Korean music and dance repertoires; the Ensemble INklang, which develops new interpretations of traditional Korean music in a contemporary context; and the Ensemble ~su. She is currently working intensively with musicians such as Matthias Mainz, Oliver Potratz, Peter Ehwald, Sol-I So, Laura Robles, Gunda Gottschalk, Saadet Türköz, Ute Völker and others.
::: Francis Heery (Electronics)
Francis Heery (b.1980) is an improviser, composer and sound artist. His music is inspired by science-fiction, occult philosophies and bio-aesthetics.
His instrumental works have been performed by the RTE Symphony Orchestra, the Crash Ensemble, the Quiet Music Ensemble, the Talujon Percussion Ensemble and by soloists including Carin Levine, Pascal Galois, Izumi Kimura and Shane Latimer.
He has received funding awards from the Arts Council of Ireland as well as commissions from Galway County and City Councils, the Music Current Festival, the Berlin Natural History Museum, and the Berlin International Sound Art Festival.
He produces experimental electronica under the name The Cube of Unknowing, with albums released on Fort Evil Fruit, Eiderdown Records and Library Of The Occult.
::: Fumio Okura (Violin, Organization)
Studied Violin, Conducting and Musicology in Tokyo and Berlin. Studied Conducting further with Prof. Peter Eötvös and was also the Guest Student at Staatsoper Berlin. He also works as a Voice Actor.
