This exhibition was created as a bookmark in my life. In 2023, my mother, Alice Ann Church, was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. Much of that year, and the first half of 2024, unfolded within hospital rooms, ERs, doctors’ offices, and assisted living facilities. It was in those quiet hospital nights, sitting beside my mother, that the seeds of this exhibition began to take root—though I didn’t recognize it at the time.
After her passing on May 8, 2024, I came to see these works as both record and reflection. They are a roadmap of the paths I walked during that journey: through uncertainty, grief, and love. This exhibition is dedicated to loss, to memory, and above all, to my mother.
