About this Event

The Twisted Spine is thrilled to invite you to our first Horror Literary Salon! This special one night only event is an incredible opportunity to learn from some of the most talented and sought-after writers working today.

Join us for a special gathering as three modern masters of Horror discuss writing craft, story structure, the business of being an author, and much more!

Working on a story of your own or interested in the art of writing? Ask your storytellling questions in a Q&A at the conclusion of the discussion.

About the Authors:

Rachel Harrison is the New York Times Bestselling author of Play Nice, So Thirsty, Black Sheep, Such Sharp Teeth, Cackle, and The Return, which was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel. Her short fiction has appeared in Guernica, Electric Literature's Recommended Reading, as an Audible Original, and in her debut story collection Bad Dolls.

Nat Cassidy writes horror for the page, stage, and screen. His acclaimed novels, including When the Wolf Comes Home (USA Today Bestseller; called "a classic" by Stephen King), Mary: An Awakening of Terror (one of Audible's "Top 100 Horror Novels of All Time"), Nestlings, and Rest Stop (Bram Stoker Award nominee), have been featured in best-of lists from Esquire, Harper's Bazaar, NPR, the Chicago Review of Books, the NY Public Library, Amazon, and more, and he was named one of the "writers shaping horror’s next golden age" by Esquire. His award-winning horror plays have been produced throughout New York City and across the United States. He won the NY Innovative Theatre Award for his one-man show about H. P. Lovecraft, another for his play about Caligula, and was commissioned by the Kennedy Center to write the libretto for a short opera (about the end of the world, of course).

Clay McLeod Chapman is the author of Wake Up and Open Your Eyes, K*ll Your Darling, Stay on the Line, What Kind of Mother, Ghost Eaters, Whisper Down the Lane, The Remaking, and miss corpus, story collections Acquired Taste, nothing untoward, commencement and rest area, the YA sci-fi/horror novel Shiny Happy People, as well as The Tribe middlegrade series: Homeroom Headhunters, Camp Cannibal and Academic Assassins.

Upcoming books include the novella Bodies of Work (April 2026) and the Harlequin “horrormance” novel Devil Inside (August 2026).

He has been nominated for the Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Award.
