About this Event
Horror poetry—both frightening and facetious—has been a part of Western culture ever since the days of poet and Goth poster boy, Lord Byron. Part literary salon, part Grand Guignol, poetry performance troupe Casketeria came together from the ashes of two previous Gothic poetry groups which had been performing since the 1990’s: The Undead Poets Society and The League of Vampiric Bards. They truly are, then, undead.
Like any troupe of performers, the players change from time to time. Original Undead Poet, award-winning poet and widely published author Denise Dumars, and original Vampiric Bard, poet and singer Michael Bloom, lead the troupe that includes author and actress Kelly Dunn, poet and professor Kathryn Kramer, poet and painter Julie Belmont, and more.
They will be appearing at Collage to perform and give insights on today’s Gothic and horror lit scene as well as the history of horror verse throughout various cultures. After the performance there will be a moderated discussion with questions from the audience. $5.00 donation suggested. Poets may have their published work for sale as well. This event will not be livestreamed, so audience size is limited - reserve soon.
