The Horned Frog Hatchery is a one-week accelerator-styled summer camp, scheduled for June 12-17, designed to introduce and encourage high school students to explore entrepreneurship and innovation as a means to do good by the creation of value-based organizations. Value-based organizations contribute to the well-being of a specific group of people through products, services and/or profits. The Horned Frog Hatchery is an experiential program that exposes participants to a broad range of education, resources, and mentors that will not only help them understand entrepreneurship, but help them approach the world with an entrepreneurial mindset. During the program, teams ideate, validate a business model, design and build a prototype, and pitch their startup to a panel of judges. High school students learn about the opportunities, benefits and pitfalls of taking a business concept from the idea phase to pitching it to potential investors.
A select group of trained educators, graduate and undergraduate students, business leaders, experienced entrepreneurs and other mentors work closely with the high school students in experiential learning sessions and co-curricular activities. Well known guest speakers and mentors, interactive technology workshops, special events, and a wide range of recreational opportunities offer an array of stimulating activities.
The Horned Frog Hatchery will be held in the Neeley School of Business at TCU.
The cost to attend the week-long camp is $995 per student and includes lunch and snacks throughout the week. Students and their parents will be responsible for travel to and from the Neeley School.
The camp will culminate in demo day where parents and community members will be invited for lunch and to participate in the student’s achievements.
