When traveling for cancer treatment becomes necessary many wonder if it will be financially physically or emotionally manageable. That's why the Hope Lodge program was started.

Over the past 15 years the American Cancer Society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge has made a profound impact by connecting thousands of patients to lifesaving cancer treatment and saving them millions in lodging expenses by providing free accommodations with all the comforts of home. Hope Lodge Iowa City makes it possible for patients to access their best chance for effective treatment - and brings hope for life after cancer. In a typical year nearly 1000 guests call Hope Lodge home.

During the month of September individuals groups and businesses will be raising donations to support the Hope Lodge. They have each committed to raising $2500. Every dollar raised goes directly back to the Russell and Ann Gerdin to help pay all the costs to keep the doors open so that the guests can focus on healing and beating their cancer.

On Oct 10th we are having a celebration of these Heroes with food and beverages and learning a little about the Hope Lodge.
