About this Event
This workshop is tailored towards clinicians who are looking to assist their clients with managing grief through the holiday season. This presentation will offer 3 CE Credits, with 2 in Ethics.
Kezziah McDaniel, EdD, LPC-S has over 20 years of experience in the fields of mental health and substance abuse. Beginning as a work- study student at a local mental health center in Birmingham, AL, she confirmed her passion for working with challenged populations. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2000 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and subsequently, completed her Master’s degree in Agency Counseling in 2005. This degree offered her an opportunity to be able to have a more collaborative and interactive role in helping consumers to address and process through their mental health symptoms. She has served in various roles, including Therapist, Risk Manager, Utilization Management Director, and Director of Clinical Services, at multiple facilities and agencies. She is currently employed as the Director of Clinical Services for Alabama Clinical Schools.
She is a presenter for various conferences, workshops, and trainings. She has presented on diverse topics ranging from self- care and compassion fatigue, ethical dilemmas, and trauma informed care, to name a few. She completed her dissertation in 2019, addressing the recidivism of acting- out behaviors that prompt coercive interventions in inpatient psychiatric facilities, to obtain her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Objectives:
- Review the 5 common stages of grief and consider at least 1 not typically discussed
- Discuss cultural and ethical considerations of grief and mourning
- Consider the impact of the holidays and seasonal transition on grief
- Identify at least 3 ethical strategies aimed at managing grief
