HOPE AS A RADICAL ACTAn Immersive Art Exhibition Reimagining Protest Culture
Dates: October 17-19, 2024
Location: The CampFire, Byker, Newcastle
"Hope as a Radical Act" is an exciting new pop up exhibition designed and curated by Paul Warrior and renowned artist Jimmy Turrell.
This event aims to reimagine protest culture, offering a fresh perspective on activism, creativity, and collective hope. Rather than focusing on opposition and destruction, this exhibition invites viewers to explore how protest can be an act of proposition, creativity, and positive change.
Held at The CampFire, a small industrial space located on the fringes of Byker, this exhibition uniquely blends art, community, and activism.
Situated in a marginal space, The CampFire aims to attract not only art lovers but also those who may not typically engage in such events.
The location, on the edge of the increasingly gentrified Ouseburn, offers a powerful contrast and an invitation for the local Byker community to take part in a wider cultural conversation.
The exhibition will feature contributions from both local and national artists, including photographers, graphic designers, and street artists such as:

In addition to the exhibition, a series of interactive workshops (both collage and poetry) will be held to engage the local community in the conversation around protest and hope.
The first of these will be with young people from both Percy Hedley School and Foundation Futures.
Hope as a Radical Act serves as a provocation to challenge perceptions, inspire change, and engage audiences in a meaningful and creative exploration of protest culture.
