HOPE AND GARBAGE
By Sophia Simmons
Presented by Conundrum Theatre
In the present day, a group of misfits board a spaceship never meant for them—the last vessel leaving a dying Earth, bound for a new home 14 light years away.
One thousand years later, their descendants have devolved into something baser: low IQ, lower EQ, trapped in a failing system of factions that breed fear, division, and loneliness.
With the ship breaking down and its operating system, ECHO, long banished, survival has become reliant on a mysterious "paste" and old episodes of The Bachelor.
Until Pixel notices something strange—and begins a journey that could heal the ship… and what remains of humanity.
In a world built on garbage, is there still hope?
Absurd, surreal, and unapologetically strange, this is an existential dive into loss, isolation, fear, bigotry, and empathy—set in a future where our flaws are magnified, and hope feels like a distant memory.
Written by award-winning playwright, Sophia Simmons. Commissioned by Conundrum Theatre.
