Have you ever wanted to pet a baby horse? Come out to Lake Wylie Brewery on May 30th from 12:00pm-2:00pm to meet our pony, Thunder, from the 100th anniversary Chincoteague Island Pony Swim!
The Chincoteague Island Pony Swim is an annual tradition where "Saltwater Cowboys" guide wild ponies from Assateague Island across the channel to Chincoteague Island, after the swim they auction foals to manage herd size and support the local volunteer fire department who care for them.
Author, Marguerite Henry, popularized the annual Chincoteague pony swim and made the island famous worldwide who wrote a beloved series of children's books based on the wild ponies of Chincoteague and Assateague Island, including, Misty of Chincoteague.
