Join us on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, from 2–3 p.m. as we welcome Stockton Soul, an ensemble that celebrates the rich legacy of Black American Music. Inspired by the soul orchestra sound of Motown legends like Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes, Stockton Soul blends violin and cello performances with the rhythms and emotions of Black American Music, creating a vibrant and educational experience. Their performances connect audiences to the cultural significance of this music and its deep ties to American history, encouraging students to embrace their musical preferences and pursue careers in the arts.
Stockton Soul’s mission grew even more urgent after the loss of founding member Jonathon Ivy in 2021, expanding to include advocacy for mental wellness. Using music, lyrics, and personal stories, the ensemble tackles issues such as addiction, bullying, and trauma while fostering meaningful conversations about mental health. Their powerful performances inspire, educate, and unite audiences, leaving a lasting impression. Do not miss this special Black History Month event at the Haggin Museum.
