Hello Honeysuckle Haters!
The 4th Ward Green Team will host a Honeysuckle Hack and Seed Throwing Day at Francis Slay Park on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10am-12pm.
We have been working to reclaim and "rewild" the hills of Francis Slay Park since the Fall of 2024. For the past couple decades, the hills have been infested and overtaken by Bush Honeysuckle, which is a non-native shurb/tree to Missouri (and the Western Hemisphere). Our goal is to get this Bush Honeysuckle under control and bring back native growth. We are making good progress, but we need your help!
Please wear boots or good outdoor shoes.
Bring drinking water and any strong cutting tools you might have at your house. There will be some tools on sight for volunteers to use.
Clifton Heights Neighbor Steve Cavin will be a the Lead Host of this event. This project is being assisted by the St. Louis Nature Stewards of the St. Louis Forestry Dept.
