Honeydrip Collective presents their first Honey Punk show with Xukasia and GUTMACHINE. Join us for a celebration of fierce queer, trans, and BIPOC alternative music in Tkaronto.
About the artists:
Xukasia is a black trans experimental hiphop/electro-industrial/noise-punk artist from Toronto. I write and produce all my music and I released my first album XONIKA in December 2023. I'm currently working on my second album, XEONFLUXX, which I plan to release in January. My lyrics combine my love for writing raw, personal lyrics about my life, queerness, autism among other topics, with my love for creative wordplay, metaphors and punchlines. My production is centered around embracing the chaotic nature of my musical tastes, as I gravitate heavily towards genre-bending alternative hip-hop with a hardcore edge that combines several different genres together. I'm very passionate about trying new ideas, constantly experimenting and creating new sounds. I also have a lot of passion for the shows I put on, which I touched on in a previous section of this form. It's really important to me to create spaces for queer/poc/trans artists who make left-field/alternative music because there aren't many music spaces that want to see people like us. We need to create our own spaces and continue building our own music community to make it large enough to the point that queer/poc/trans musicians won't feel the need to be accepted by straight white people in order to have a career in music.
GUTMACHINE is a screamo-inspired queercore grunge band hailing from Tkaronto, ON. Members Thomas, Toast, Sylvia, Lia, and Jazz all find themselves deeply ingrained in the DIY music scene, having played Greenwoodstock last fall and Festival Lingua Franca the year before. Their self-titled demo tape, released in 2023, and their debut EP, slated to release later in 2025, both aim to elevate trans joy and sorrows through screaming about queer life and its hardships, soaring guitar leads, thundering bass, and blistering drum lines.
