Honey Extraction: From Comb to Jar

In this hands-on workshop, you will take a deep dive into the wonderfully sticky and delicious world of raw honey. Perfect for beekeepers and the bee-curious alike, this class will cover everything you need to know about how to safely and effectively extract honey harvested from a beehive, from the comb all the way to the jar. Carmen of Feral Farms Beekeeping will lead you in the practice of uncapping honey frames and spinning the honey out using the Tool Library's centrifugal extractor, then bottling it into glass jars for you to take home and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Each participant will leave equipped with the knowledge and experience needed to harvest and extract honey on their own, as well as their very own jar of raw, local honey.

What we Provide: All materials for honey extraction & bottling.

What to Wear / Safety Notes: Wear clothes/shoes that you are not worried about getting a little sticky.

Skill Level: Beginner & Intermediate levels are welcome — no experience necessary.

Important Workshop Details:

• Attendees must be 18+
• Attendees should arrive 15 minutes early to check in.
• Refunds are only allowed until 72 hours before the event.
• Bathrooms and refillable water stations are available on site. We have a fridge on site to store any meals or snacks, participants are able to step away to eat or drink at any time.
• If a class does not reach a sustainable capacity, the instructor may cancel up to 48 hours before the event. In that case, all attendees will receive a full refund.

Equitable Access We believe everyone deserves access to hands-on learning opportunities, regardless of income. That's why each workshop includes a limited number of Equitable Access seats.

• Each participant may claim an Equitable Access seat once per quarter (every three months).
• These spots are first-come, first-served and limited by class size.
• If you've already used an equitable seat this quarter, we ask that you register at full price so others can benefit.
