About this Event

THE CLASS

HONEY is a mindful movement class that blends traditional mat pilates and passive stretching to create; presence, length, strength and mobility in the body. Mindful movement is an approach to movement that puts emphasis on cultivating a mind-body connection, and prioritising how we feel over an aesthetic or goal-based focus. Throughout the class, you will be guided through a series of movements, aiming to cultivate presence, awareness by listening to the body’s needs, and honouring its limitations with non-judgmental acceptance for your movement.


INCLUSIVITY

HONEY is a QTBIPOC focused class. The aim of this is to acknowledge the need for more supportive, empowering spaces that address the challenges, and marginalisation faced by these intersecting communities. Whether you identify as QTBIPOC or not, everyone is welcome just please be mindful of the space that you are occupying.

With that being said, there is a strict Zero Tolerance Policy for any form of discrimination, including; homophobia, transphobia, cultural appropriation, racism, fatphobia, misogyny, body shaming, or any hate speech of any kind. These behaviours have no place in our community and will not be tolerated.

If you witness or experience any behaviour that goes against these principles, please reach out to me immediately. Your concerns will be addressed confidentially and with the utmost care.


ACCESSIBILITY

HONEY is designed with a trauma-informed approach to movement that addresses the impact of trauma on people's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. HONEY uses inclusive and intentional language & aims to be accessible for all bodies with, modifiable movement and offering full agency over your movement choices.

HONEY is a "come as you are" class which means;

  • . Regardless of your starting point, HONEY will meet you where you are at. Pilates is focused on body awareness, modifiable exercises, and core strength and can be adapted to suit the needs of all fitness levels.
  • You are encouraged to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable and at ease to move in.

*I understand that financial barriers can sometimes limit access to movement practices. In our efforts to make movement accessible to as many as possible, I will be offering PWYC (pay what you can) drop-in spots.

If you are facing financial limitations and would like to participate in the class, please reach out to me on IG @move.likehoney and I will do my best to accommodate you based on availability.
