Honey Bee Pest & Disease Intensive | 1-day Hands-On Beekeeping Workshop

This is a unique and one of a kind opportunity to actually work the bees in actual bee hives as part of the Hands-on portion of the workshop. We will suit you up and take a close look at the bees, doing varroa testing, setting small hive beetle traps, and looking for wax moth larvae along with SHB larvae. You will be learning how to be a more successful beekeeper, by learning the challenges of IPM in Florida, where we have no brood breaks nor temps to K*ll off pests with personal hands-on experience working in the hive. Hands-On Workshop

• Varroa Sugar Roll - how to do the test in the apiary
• Varroa Alcohol Wash - how to do the test in the apiary
• Hive Beetle Traps - using 3 different trap methods
• Identify various pests and diseases in the apiary

Students registration includes:

• Pest Test Sampler Kit for Varroa & SHB
• Lunch & bottled water
