Homesteading Conifer & Beyond

The Homestead Act of 1862 built our nation, with 270 million acres homesteaded by men, women, immigrants and formerly enslaved people. The land, long inhabited by indigenous cultures, changed forever. National Park representatives will share the history of the Act, how land was claimed and who settled in our great nation. We'll also share maps of homesteads in our area and teach you how to research the origins your property or find out if your ancestors were homesteaders.
