Homeschool Day, Nov 5th: Identifying Rocks & Minerals
Here’s what to expect for: Identifying Rocks & Minerals (1st Thursday, October 1st)
- age 6-8: 11am
- age 9-12: 1pm
- after schoolers (all ages): 530pm
- age 13-adult: 630pm

Everyone mines for rocks and minerals and keeps everything they find!
Age 6-8 (Young Explorers) Learn about the Rock Cycle, how to describe a rock and mineral so you can figure out if it is Igneous Metamorphic or Sedimentary and then immerse yourself if rock properties during our indoor scavenger hunt!
Age 9-12 (Junior Scientists) learn the Rock Cycle, how to ID the rock types and minerals and reinforce 3D shapes that manifest in crystals. Dive deep into the chemistry of density and hardness and learn college level field testing techniques! reinforce it all with a indoor scavenger hunt while we hunt for 3D shapes and other rock properties
Age 13-adult (Rockhounds) get the full experience, and learn everything above, while we also dive into fluorescence in rocks and how we can use them to identify rocks and minerals.
