Supplement your life science, botanical and environmental studies curriculum with a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. In the Fuqua Conservatory, discover a lush tropical rainforest, make observations on unique orchids and marvel at bizarre succulents from South Africa and Madagascar. Tip-toe through the treetops on the Kendeda Canopy Walk and visit the Edible Garden to learn more about the plants we eat. Grade-specific, self-guided materials will be available in the Visitor Center and volunteers will be around the Garden introducing students to interesting phenomenon.Don’t miss Shows for Seedlings: Taiko & Dance: The Spirit of Okinawa with Mirai Kanai as they bring the exhilarating art form of Eisa to life—feel the rhythm, witness the tradition, and let the pulse of Okinawa move you! Originally performed to honor ancestors during Obon festivals, Eisa has evolved into a year-round celebration of Okinawan culture, featuring synchronized movements, spirited shouts, and the deep, resonant beats of both small hand drums and large taiko drums. Performances take place at 10 and 10:45 a.m. on the Great Lawn.
Parking and sales tax not included. No outside food or drink. Walk-ups are welcome.
Please note: This event is free for Garden members, and members do not need tickets.
