Learners will experience the artistic traditions of the world through hands-on arts and crafts projects. This class combines creative expression, cultural awareness and geography together. Some of our explorations will include Russian Matryoshka Dolls, Japanese Suminagashi Paper, Aztec Masks, and Indonesian Batik. We will spend 15-30 minutes from each class learning about the cultures, history and regions from which these crafts originate, so your child will get a little social studies along with their art.This class is for 4th - 6th graders and meets for 8 sessions from Oct. 5th - Nov. 30th. Though primarily meant for home-schoolers due to the class time, all students are welcome.
