Step into a world of adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, or mystery with Six Pixels’ filmmaking program for youth ages 7–13. In this hands-on course, students experience the entire filmmaking process, from planning and writing to performing, directing, filming, and editing their own original short movies. The program seamlessly integrates English Language Arts, STEM, and Fine Arts standards, blending narrative storytelling, visual communication, and digital technology.
Young filmmakers explore both the art and science of movie-making, practicing story structure, character development, and scriptwriting while learning technical skills such as camera operation, lighting, sound design, and video editing. Through individual and collaborative projects, students rotate roles—acting, directing, producing, filming, and editing—gaining a deep understanding of how composition, camera perspective, and editing choices bring a scene to life and drive the story forward. As they create and collaborate, students sharpen essential career-ready skills—leading teams, thinking critically, solving problems, communicating effectively, and working together. By the end of the semester, participants will have created a variety of original short films, culminating in a final movie premiere where students can proudly showcase their creativity and hard work.
