About this Event
In 2024, Ofsted identified that the response to 16- and 17-year-olds presenting as homeless in Southend needed improvement.
To address this, Southend City Council (SCC) finalised the Joint Protocol for 16- and 17-year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in June 2025.
We would also like to offer a training programme that is aiming to help practitioners with:
✅ Understand who is responsible for assessing homelessness or risk of homelessness in young people.
✅ Learn how to respond effectively when a young person is at risk of homelessness.
✅ Explore tools and resources to support prevention in your practice.
✅ Consider the young person’s family and support network in both short- and long-term planning.
✅ Identify key partners in a multi-agency approach and their roles.
✅ Plan for parallel and contingency options to reduce risk.
✅ Test your knowledge through real-life case scenarios.
This training is mandatory for:
🔹 A&I
🔹 FSP
🔹 AIPT
🔹 C-SPOC
🔹 Supporting Families
🔹 Housing Officers
🔹 Advocacy Service (Barnardo’s’)
🎒 You'll leave with practical tools!
All attendees will receive learning materials and resources at the end of the session to support your ongoing work with young people at risk of homelessness.
