Please join us on November 16th at 1:00pm for a showcase of AB Miller's 23rd Annual StudentWorks: Radiance and Renewal, a site-specific dance performance event at the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation gardens in Alta Loma, California.
We are thrilled to share another exciting cycle of youth-initiated programming featuring six new student works with seventeen dance artists in the gardens of the Maloof.
Radiance and Renewal showcases the work of AB Miller Level I and Level II Dance Conservatory students through a medley of new performance works in response to the architecture, landscape, ethos, and history of the Maloof Foundation.
Hope to see you there!
homeLA is an experimental performance platform that uses the ideas of home to critically engage with the sites, histories, and narratives of Los Angeles to reveal the complexity and intersectionality of the city—past, present, and future.
Our multidisciplinary programs bridge the diverse fields of experimental dance, art, and architecture through provocative programs that foreground underrepresented narratives, identities, and cultures in an exchange with Los Angeles’ built environment, both public and private.
inSITE is homeLA’s immersive after-school master program in site-specific dance for high school students enrolled in dance programs in public high schools.
Additional Details
homeLA events require proximity and are intimate events that include video recording and photo for documentation and accessibility purposes.
The Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation: The Maloof Historic Home is located on nearly six acres located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, listed on the National Register of Historic places and designated as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. The drought-tolerant Discovery Garden offers examples of more than 350 plant species, including many identified by their Gabrielino Tongva names and harvested by tribal elders for use in traditional food, medicine and weaving.
If you wish to view the historic residence prior to the performance(s), please schedule a tour. Advance purchase is highly recommended. Space is limited and tours often sell out!
Parking: Parking is very limited. We encourage carpooling and rideshare.
To access the public parking lot, please continue past Hidden Farm Road and enter the second driveway on the right. If that parking lot is full, you may park on the right side of Carnelian St. (along the white fence). Residential parking is also permitted on the right side of the street on both Hidden Farm Road and Almond Street. Parking is NOT available on Bella Vista Street.
A map of the parking lot will be provided to ticket holders the week of the event.
Accessibility: homeLA is dedicated to ensure that our events are as accessible as possible for our disability community members and artists.
Parking for disabled visitors is provided in the public parking lot entered from Carnelian St., which provides an accessible path of travel to the Maloof Historic Home, gallery and restrooms.
Adjacent landscaped areas, where some dance performances will take place, have gently sloped paths defined by natural logs, timbers, stones and surfacing materials selected to enable visits by mobility-impaired visitors using walkers, wheelchairs and other accessibility devices. When visiting, please ask for assistance as needed to identify preferred paths of accessibility.
COVID: In fostering a community of care, we ask that you keep the following in mind: This event will be held outdoors. Please mask at your own discretion. We will have masks on site for folx who want to mask. If you are feeling sick at all, we ask that you please stay home.
