Lafayette-based reggae artist Russell Cormier and Homegrown Reggae have navigated through life's most challenging moments to find inspiration in music. Originally entrenched in the vibrant zydeco scene, Cormier's musical journey took a transformative turn when he encountered the legendary sounds of Bob Marley. It was during this time that Cormier recognized a striking similarity between their guitar styles, particularly in a distinctive strumming technique known as "skank."
