Homebuyer Education Workshop with Hazelwood Library

Join Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Hazelwood, NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania and Citizens Bank for a FREE Homebuyer Workshop designed to guide participants through the homebuying process.

This in-person workshop features presentations from a HUD-approved housing counselor, loan officer, real estate agent, home inspector, and insurance broker, providing expert guidance all in one place. Participants will also enjoy complimentary breakfast and lunch during the session.

Participants will learn:

• How credit impacts mortgage eligibility and interest rates
• Available mortgage loan options
• How to plan for a down payment and closing costs
• How to shop for and purchase a home
• Required homeowner insurance coverage
• How to maintain a home and avoid foreclosure

Participants who complete the workshop and a required one-on-one counseling session with a HUD-approved counselor will earn a Homebuyer Education Certificate valid for one year.

This certificate may be used to apply for down payment and closing cost assistance programs, subject to lender and program requirements.
