The laughs are back at Beer Thirty when Homebrewed Comedy comes to Binghamton on Saturday, May 4. RJ Purpura is headlining the show and will be joined by Stephen Brown, John Bianchi and host Mike Peters.
The show will start at 7 p.m. and seating starts at 6:30. It's a free show, so tip the staff extra well.
About the comedians:
Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters performed at the Funny Bone in Syracuse, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City, won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcast, On the Mic with Mike Peters.
A veteran of the Binghamton mic circuit, John Bianchi has been a familiar face around the comedy scene for the last few years. He performed at the Uptown Comedy Festival in 2023. With a mix of storytelling and quick hitters, Bianchi is always entertaining.
Stephen Brown is a comedian from Binghamton who is way too open for his own good. A former musician and a father of three boys, Brown is a fantastic story-teller with years of ammunition. He’s able to turn the most embarrassing situations in his life into comedic currency for everybody to enjoy. He won the Clash of the Comics at the Syracuse Funny Bone in 2023, has opened for Steve Byrne and performed at the Uptown Comedy Festival and the Finger Lakes Comedy Festival. He also hosts the open mic and comedy showcase at Crooked Mouth in Endicott, N.Y.
Originally from Rochester, RJ Purpura has been writing and performing comedy for many years and has had the privilege of working with comedians such as Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Big Jay Oakerson, Gilbert Gottfriend and Dan Soder. Purpura’s rapid-fire witticisms cover a wide variety of topics, all with an (un)healthy dose of self-deprecation, that lead to him being named the 2017 Funniest Person in Rochester. Purpura has performed all over upstate New York, in New York City, at the Finger Lakes Comedy Festival and the Rochester Fringe Festival.
