Everyone knows the story: young Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) is left behind when his large Chicago family oversleeps on the morning of their flight to Paris and forgets him. At first this is bliss, because now he’s the top dog (at 8, Kev’s the youngest of the clan), but then he’s attacked by the dopey “Wet Bandits”, who run afoul of Kevin’s most cunning booby traps. HOME ALONE is a throwback to old, Buster-Keaton-style stunts and gags, but Catherine O’Hara is the movie’s beating heart, as the mother who races home from Paris, lands in Scranton, PA, and stops at nothing to make it home to her child.
