Join us for the first part of the Triduum, a three day long celebration and the most sacred part of the liturgical year! Though it takes place over the course of three days (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday), it is liturgically one celebration.
Holy Thursday Mass, also known as the Mass of the Lord's Supper, begins the Triduum. We remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples—the first Mass—and how he gave us his body and blood in the Eucharist. We also remember how he washed the disciples feet and taught us to be servant leaders. During the Mass, the priest will wash the feet of twelve people from the parish.
This Mass doesn’t end. We close in silence with a procession. Jesus, present in the Eucharist, is left in a temporary side altar or chapel and people are invited to sit and pray with him, remembering how he prayed alone in the Garden of Gethsemane.
