“Holy Humor Sunday” or “Bright Sunday” is an Easter custom begun by the Greeks in the early centuries of Christianity. For centuries in Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant countries, the week following Easter Sunday was
observed by the faithful as "days of joy and laughter" with parties and picnics to celebrate Jesus' resurrection.
Holy Humor services enable us to share in that Easter joy and laughter. We are fools for Christ and to others it may seem silly to believe in a resurrection we do not have the privilege of witnessing for ourselves. Like Thomas many of us wish to touch the wounds of Jesus and see for ourselves and yet we trust nevertheless in God.
You are invited to come dressed in silly or colorful outfits, socks, and hats. Share in the laughter and funny stories of faith!
